Groceries – Day 07: Breakfast basics

6 Mar
Budget carried over from previous days: 24p
Content of pantry before shopping:

- Perishable:

   No coffee
2 portions (approx. 260 grams) of liver
1 portion of pork fillet (frozen)
   jellied eels (frozen)
a bit over half a cabbage
   3.5 chillies
1 small bottle school milk (frozen)
   garlic (about 5 cloves left?)
   leftover of puff pastry

 - Non-perishable:

Most of 750 grams of salt
   Flour
   Rice
   Instant mash (small leftover)
   mixed herbs
   lemon thyme
   some ginger
Total budget available for day 7: £ 1.24
Budget used: £ 0.74
Budget left: £ 0.50
Budget available for day 8: £ 1.50

In principle, I should be able to pretty much survive for a day on what I’ve already got in stock (meaning I’m roughly a pound ahead in stock, plus 50p in cash saved up).

(Update: The day after I got a can of mushy peas at 12p still within this days' budget
so the actual numbers should look as follows:
Total budget available for day 7: £ 1.24
Budget used: £ 0.86
Budget left: £ 0.38
Budget available for day 8: £ 1.38)

After a busy day cooking, I’ll be taking it slightly slower for a day. Which means, back to basics – all I got for groceries is a pack of instant noodles, an onion and a bag of oats.

This will allow me to take things a little bit slower tomorrow, and at the same time save up a little bit of money for some upcoming expenses on staple items.

Now to figure out what to do with that jellied fish.
