My apologies for posting this a day late – Both yesterday and today have been very busy. It appears that despite all rumors of the contrary, I still have a life off-line as well. But I’ll try to get everything completely up-to-date again right away.
Content of pantry before shopping: - Perishable: 1 portion (approx. 130 grams) of liver 2.5 chillies 2 pots fruit yoghurt 1 small potato half an onion small leftover of mixed vegetables (frozen) garlic (one bulb plus two small cloves) margarine (~220 grams) - Non-perishable: Most of 750 grams of salt Flour (about a quarter left) Rice Mixed herbs Basil (frozen) Lemon thyme (frozen) Oats 1 can mushy peas Budget available for day 14: £ 2.50 Budget used: £ 0.50 Budget left: £ 2.00 Budget available for day 15: £ 3.00
I was going to have a pretty long, busy day (more about that later), so I just made sure to get some convenience food – a can of ravioli. I also figured that with at least a real tomato in there and some basil from the freezer, it was going to be a halfway decent thing to have for lunch. I still had plenty of healthy stuff for breakfast and supper, so didn’t worry about that.
So that was that. A can of ravioli and a tomato.
Which once again means that I could save half the budget of the day. I thought this was a one pound per day challenge, not a 50p per day challenge? Still, looking at what I actually needed this was the right thing to do.
